Threatening Substances Forces Plane Diversion To Phoenix

A United Airlines commuter flight transporting 47 people from San Francisco to San Antonio was redirected to Phoenix on Thursday after a confidential warning was made against the airplane, authorities said.

After preparing the unscheduled landing at around 4 :45 p .m. local time , the plane was transported to a very remote area of the airport, where its passengers were evacuated while nearby police looked into it, authorities said.

The danger, which emerged on Halloween, was located on the aircraft , said Sergeant Steve Martos, a spokesperson for the Phoenix police department. He failed to announce additional information.

A preliminary browse through of the aircraft by investigators and police dogs failed to show any threatening substances, Martos said. However he said more deeply investigation by his department's bomb squad was still continuing.

The FBI will definitely investigate the risk , Martos added .

Julie Rodriguez , a spokeswoman for Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, revealed that not a single flight wait or roadway limitations were anticipated due to the unscheduled landing or the investigation .
